Hello everyone! Spring is here! The grass is growing, the sky is blue, the daffodils are blooming, and I am very happy!

A few days ago, I had an English assignment to write a descriptive paragraph describing some geographical feature near my home. The assignment instructed me to pattern my writing after the style of Washington Irving in the first two paragraphs of "Rip Van Winkle." So without further ado, here's a little piece about the pond that I see from my bedroom window every day. Enjoy!

~The Pond~

The pond in October

In a quiet neighborhood, not far from the beautiful Rocky Mountains, if you were to take a walk down the street you would come across a little pond, surrounded by bulrushes swaying in the breeze. On a still spring morning, it’s glassy surface reflects the sky and rising sun unbroken, save for where the little fish come up to kiss the morning air. During the warm summer months, many people may be seen around it, taking walks, riding bicycles, or casting their fishing lines into its murky waters.  Autumn makes the trees around it change their colors and the green grass upon the bank begins to fade. In the frozen winter, the trees are bare sticks against the stark white sky. A wild, quiet mist rises up from its face in cold, gray clouds. No one walks there now, all is quiet. But they do not care, as they gaze from their windows upon the unearthly beauty without, for all seasons will pass and come again, and each brings a loveliness of its own to grace the little pond.

I hope y'all take some time to breath the fresh air and enjoy the beautiful things coming to life all around!

Are you happy about spring?

What new thing is growing or being born near you?

Blessings!
